Greek tortoise
Alex
A little explorer with a big personality.
Eight years ago, a very special little resident arrived at Posest Magnolija. Back then, Alex the Greek tortoise was just 2.5 centimetres long and weighed only 15 grams. Tiny as he was, he already had a big personality.
Today Alex is a truly curious soul who loves exploring his surroundings and enjoys the company of children. Tortoises are often thought of as slow and solitary animals, but Alex surprises us again and again. He knows his name, and when we call him, he happily comes over. And of course he has his favourite treat – a sweet, juicy strawberry, which he can hardly resist!
Alex teaches us that animals that don't bark, meow or neigh also communicate with us in their own way.
When the days turn cold, it is time for a rest. In the wild, Greek tortoises hibernate in winter – their bodies slow down so they can get through the colder part of the year. So Alex has his winter rest too, and in spring he wakes up again and sets off to explore the world.
Alex is a wonderful reminder that true friendships are not measured in speed, size or the number of words, but in trust and patience.
